  • Staff/Cost Accountant

    Location: 3500 20th St. E., Ste. C, Fife, Wa, 98424

    Reports to: Controller

    Position Location: 100% Onsite

    Department: Finance

    Position Status: Full Time/ NON-EXEMPT

    Wage: 24.03/hr - 33.65/hr

    About the Position

    As Brown & Haley’s Staff/Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for managing cost accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, and providing essential insights into cost control measures. You will work closely with the Controller, Operations, and Management teams to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    · Perform cost accounting duties, including tracking and analyzing costs related to production, inventory, and operations.

    · Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes by analyzing cost structures and identifying trends.

    · Analyze variances between actual and budgeted costs, providing detailed reporting.

    · Review and maintain inventory records, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.

    · Maintain cost allocation methods and systems for efficient cost tracking.

    · Assist with the preparation and review of monthly reconciliations for various accounts.

    · Prepare reports for management, highlighting key cost drivers and areas for improvement.

    · Support internal and external audits, ensuring all required documentation and schedules are accurate and up to date.

    Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    · Assist with special projects and ad-hoc reporting as needed.

    · Other duties as assigned.

    Position Requirements

    Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.

    Related Experience:

    Proven experience (2+ years) as a staff accountant or cost accountant, ideally within the Manufacturing industry.

    Competencies:

    · Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and financial reporting.

    · Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

    · Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    · Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

    · Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

    · Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
